Why Baiting Is The Best Option For Ant Extermination
They're creepy. They're crawly. And they can carry some amazingly large crumbs considering the size of their bodies. Ants are some of the most common household pests, and they are pretty tough to get rid of. There are a few ways to get rid of ants, including insecticide sprays and traps. However, the best option is often to use baits. Here's why.
1. Baits are tidy and clean.
If you spray your home with insecticides, the spray will get everywhere. You have to be careful not to touch the areas you have sprayed, and you also have to avoid touching any surfaces that were sprayed. Baits, however, are tidy and clean. The bait itself is contained within a little housing, usually made from plastic, so there's really no way for you to be exposed to the pesticides within unless you purposefully reach your fingers in to touch them. You can eat in your kitchen without worrying that the insecticides will get on your food.
2. More ants are likely to be exposed to the baits.
When you spray with insecticides, you only get rid of the ants that are in the area that you spray. You may kill a few more that walk through the insecticides later on, but many ants won't come near the treated area and will, therefore, live on. Baits are more effective at getting rid of all the ants at once. The ants that find the bait will carry some of it back to their nest, where other ants will feed on it. So all of the ants don't have to find the bait — just a few of them.
3. Baits are easy to place.
Spraying insecticides takes quite a lot of skill and caution. You need to know where to spray them, how to spray them without spreading them everywhere, and so forth. Baits can be used with a lot less skill. Most are pre-packed into little plastic tubs. You just pull a tab-like cover off the bait tub and put the bait tub in an area where you've seen ants. (A place where ants feed, like the back of your kitchen cupboard, works well.)
Baits continue to be one of the top options for eradicating ants. You can put the baits out yourself, but for maximum effects, you may want to call in a pest control service like Good News Pest Solutions and have them help with placing the baits.
